STAY TUNED FOR WEBSITE UPDATES

Hello, All! For the next few days, while we make some aesthetic changes, we will have our website redirected to our blog. The revised site will debut Thursday, December 1, 2011. When the website is ready we will debut subtle changes along with our new pricing structure. In the meantime, enjoy reading our past blog posts and visit our Facebook page and see some of our more current work.

We are also experiencing technical issues with our email addresses. We have GoDaddy on the job and will have it taken care of soon.

Happy Planning!

KEEP UP

Wedding planners are expected to keep up with the newest trends. Be it color, catering, dresses or linen, our clients expect us to give them something special that is just for them. Why is it not that way with all wedding vendors? I am so tired of hearing, "We don't do that." when you have never tried. Or because you have not taken two hours out of your week to catch up on fashion and wedding blogs. There is a whole other world of design inspiration outside of your market. Poke your head out every now and again and take some of that in.

A great colleague of mine, Heather of Outstanding Occasions, told me this week that they do not reuse rental items. She, her partner and their team find something fresh and new for each client. I, for one, am tired of looking at pictures from weddings from some vendors with the same items at each wedding. Putting the same item on a different table does not make it fresh. It makes you unimaginative.

Why am I so up in arms about this? Because we at Andria Lewis Events want our clients to have new and fresh and different. My wedding last weekend had a red carpet, step and repeat banner and a paparazzi photographer for guests to enjoy as they entered the reception. I am not saying we are the first wedding planners ever to do this at a wedding, but you have to admit it is not done often. It caused my clients to get rave compliments and that made them smile and that made me smile.

So, wedding industry folks, let us get off our duffs and actually do the work we are being paid to do. Create (not refurbish) incredible weddings.

Great post Andria! I agree. It seems that everything has become soooo "Cookie Cutter" within the industry, therefore lacking originality. Each couple is different! So as professionals our design approach should be tailored specifically to each one.
